Acts 6:1-7 "The Deacons of the Church" Sermon Series: Kingdom Builders

This week, Pastor Dan continued our Kingdom Builders series by considering the New Testament office of Deacon. As the church in Jerusalem continued to grow, there arose a dispute among the people regarding the ministry among the widows. Knowing that the church’s witness to the world depended on their ability to love one another well, the apostles found it necessary to appoint deacons to not only care for the material needs of the church but to tangibly embody Christ’s own service to His people. Our sermon this Sunday called God’s people to a Biblical understanding of this office and to consider their role in raising up a group of deacons here at The Chapel to aid in building Christ’s kingdom here in our community.
